Hey everyone, I recently bought a Zoom H2 audio recorder. Here is a recording sample that I have. I would like to know if the sound quality is good enough for the website. Thank you for your advice, Samuel Chetty
It's hard to say with such a short snippet which does not move harmonically or laterally. It sounds very tinny and artificial but that could be the instrument rather than the H2. Is it a digital ? If so, why need the H2 ? Maybe you should have saved up a bit more and bought the H4, as I think the H2 is of audible lower quality.
I am using a real piano, not a digital; however, the piano itself (an upright) does not have very good sound anymore. I went to someone's house who has a grand piano in very good condition, and I brought my H2 recorder with me. I have several recordings that I would like for you to review in terms of sound quality (I know, they all a number of slips and another issues, so I didn't put them in the audition room). Is this level of sound quality good enough for the website? If so, I will record pieces with the same piano and submit them to the audition room.
I think these would be acceptable even though the hiss is more than some would find comfortable. I think hiss is the main penalty you pay for using cheap recorders. Strange thing is that these all seem to sound different. Sonically I best like the Fantasia (not the piece itself, sorry). The fugue seems to be very closely miked as you can hear all the piano action - not good.
