I would like to share my recording of Schubert's Impromptu in G Flat Major, Thanks for listening Vladimir
Hi Vladimir, Eventually I find time to send you my comment (I already listened your impromptu some weeks ago). First I have noted at least two reading errors which change the harmony (at 1:07 and 1:50). If you listen with the score, you should easily identify them. Otherwise, you put a lot of expression, but I have to confess that I find your tempo too elastic and not stable enough to my taste. If you listen Brendel or Horowitz on YouTube, you might see what I mean. The Schubert's tempi generally flow like a stream. Rubato comes later with Chopin... Regards,
Hi Francois, textual mistakes should not have happened. I wrongfully relied on my memory. As for rubato, the practice was already in use in early classical period, even earlier; I agree, the extent of rubato is what makes it either appealing or going against the good taste. In generally, I am too against artificial and excessive fluctuations in tempo. Thanks for your feedback. Regards
Hi Vladimir, Yes, rubato has always existed, but the question is to which extent, at which location etc. A matter of taste, first ! Do you intend to re-record this piece or do you want me to upload this version. By the way, I liked your other impromptu (No. 4) and have uploaded it already. All the best, François
Hi François, Meanwhile, please don't upload this version. It can wait. Thanks and best regards! Vladimir
