Rachmaninoff, Musical Moment Op. 16 No 6

Hello everyone,
I would like to share my recording of another one of Rachmaninoff's Musical Moment. There are 6 of them in Op 16 that were composed in 1896. This is an early Rachmaninoff, but his style is already so pianistically rich! In the first half of his life in Russia he mainly composed; his performing repertoire included rather his own music, but after immigration he had to establish himself, and then a career of a world class pianist has begun...

Hi Vladimir,

You give a very impressive performance
by keeping things balanced between
the repeated motif in the left hand
and the right hand melodic movement.

The middle section is also allows the
swirl like accompaniment importance
while still capturing the moving line in the
right hand.

I think your performance is really on the way
to the comfort zone where you can provide
extra dynamic shading and more nuanced
ebb and flow.

Hi Kaila,

My playing of this Musical Moment underwent few stages; first, I have learned it many years ago, played it and then put aside for several years. Now, I see this music differently, it's several layers of colours and sonorities became more alive for me, so to speak... I hear Rachmaninoff - philosopher as well as Rachmaninoff - pianist/composer, virtuoso etc...
