    I have a lovely framed caligraphied parchment that claims the text to be "from a German Opera House" that says:

    Bach gave us God's words
    Mozart gave us God's laughter
    Beethoven gave us God's fire
    God gave us music that we could pray without words

    Does anybody know if there is any truth to the claim of origin?
