Thank you to one of my Facebook friends for posting this! It's a well-made documentary on the Joyce Hatto piano recordings scam. I know we have talked about this story on PS before, but maybe someone new doesn't know about it. It really amazes me how defiant her husband remains! And many of you probably don't know this, but we've had a couple of our own little scams happen right here on our site in the past... That was a lot of fun. Thanks - didn't know about this. The BBC are going to show a biopic of Joyce Hatto over Christmas. In a peculiar coincidence, her husband will be played by Alfred Molina, who once played John Ogdon onscreen.
That was nice to see, thanks. Nothing new here really, but good to see it presented in a well-made short video, and see the key players in this little melo-drama. What a pity he never signed her up for PS
I like Molina, but can't help picturing him with 8 metal robot alien arm-like things sticking out his back... I wonder if I'll be able to access/view that BBC documentary on Hatto...
You can't normally access BBC web video from outwith the UK. Well, you can if you view it via a proxy based in the UK.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THJiQWm_y-w that's a preview clip. Note it's obviously a dramatisation, not a documentary. I wonder who's playing piano?
Considering this gentleman's (if true gentlemen will concede my calling him that) biography, I am surprised he managed to make a fool of all the pundits. Come to think of it, I gre up with some excellent recordings by musicians of whom neither my parents nor I had never heard of. I wonder if they were not some of the ones he invented?
"Hatto plays Hatto" Well I could be convinced of some obscure composition I've never heard of but Pictures at the Exhibition ? A ruse it is!
