As for one last item of chamber music (for now, at least), here's the third movement of Clara Schumann's beautiful-and-unjustly-neglected trio for violin, cello and piano. It's a lovely Andante, in a style somewhat reminiscent of Mendelssohn, with a faster, more dramatic middle section. It was recorded live, during a chamber music audition at the conservatory last year. My partners were C.-M. Dufour (violin) and A. Fradet (cello). I wish we'd have been able to perform and record the other movements as well, since we studied the entire work over the course of a year, but alas, we had the worst luck with audition dates and timing. Hopefully we'll get our trio back on track at some point. Clara Schumann - Trio op 17 in G minor - III. Andante ( 3:27 )
Never heard this before, but it does sound quite nice. Did Clara compose it completely by herself or did Robert help her?
I don't think I've heard this work before either, and indeed a lovely piece it is. Quite Mendelssohnesque, as you said, and almost reminded me of the slow movements in his piano trios. I think you and your partners quite did the movement justice - especially in a live environment - and it is a crying shame you guys couldn't record the entire thing.
A beautiful trio-movement, a nice playing Looking forward to hear also other movements from this work!
