I've continued working on this piece for most of this year, and have decided that it is about as good as it is going to get for now. This is the first classical piece I've memorized in close to a decade. The recording reveals so many more things I could do, but I figured I would share it for those who enjoy this music. Feedback is welcome, but please try to find at least one thing positive to say - I am an amateur, piano is strictly a hobby for me at this time. This is using my Tascam DR-40 recorder, which is a major improvement for sound over my camcorder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCTUxrjoQbI For those of you who are curious - take 1 was posted at (camcorder audio quality): viewtopic.php?f=20&t=6144
Hi Benjamin, this is very good! I can hear a few tiny imperfections but this is, after all, a one-take performance. I think it is a considerable step forward from take 1. I don't know how much is you and how much is the superior recording quality, but it now has much more definition and nuance (and it's also a little faster - anyone who can play it at Barere's tempo is a miracle-worker!) Very well done.
Impressive playing and very nice voicing, particularly in the outer sections. For some reason this reminds of me of Henselt. Your long fingers must help with the articulation
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you both enjoyed the recording. Andrew - I agree that the new audio recorder helped a ton. I also think the faster tempo helps - I have no idea how Barere plays this in under four minutes!
Beautiful piece I didn't know. Thank you for the discovery, and for your mastery ! Must be an excellent work to practice expressive playing with the LH. Congratulations !
