First Movement from Op. 27 No. 1 sonata of Beethoven. Played on a Yamaha Upright. Still a work in progress, but I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
First things first... The sound is awful, the wobble and hiss quite unbearable. What did you use, a MP3 recorder ? The playing is fine and solid though, insofar it can be judged with this sound. The repeated chords in the introduction sound a bit dragging, and the allegro section could be a bit spikier and more exact. But there is really nothing wrong with your performance or conception and I have no suggestions except to provide a decent sounding recording, which can then go straight up the site !
The sound quality must result from my laptop's poor quality sound card. Unfortunately it does make the recording difficult to listen to.
I listened with score and as far I could here during the rushing of the record dynamic and agogic sound musically and nice, may be the introduction a bit stiff. The Allegro-part is lively and expressively, IMO you could make here a bit more difference between the p and f, but that´s a matter of taste, of course. Good conception and rendition, but the sound-quality is really too bad, so I agree to Chris.
Yes it does rather Would it not be the laptop's poor microphone being the main trouble here ? I dont' think that any PC microphone, be it external or built-in, is adequate for recording. I hope you can get decent equipment soon, you playing is well worth it.
