Everytime I come onto this subreddit, I see so many amazing artists and players that I often get discouraged. I am currently hitting my third month of piano, and I’ve been diligently learning everything I can. I’ve reportedly bought several music theory books, and I’ve spent countless hours awake at night watching videos. It seems like a lot to learn, scales, chords, music theory, and etc., but I’m doing my best to keep up. I basically just want some help, or reassurance that my efforts will eventually reap rewards where I’m able to play masterpieces. My piano teacher currently has me playing I think 12 measures of Johann Bach’s Minuet. I’ve learned to play it well within about 4 days. I oftentimes don’t feel challenged enough with her homework. I love playing piano, and I don’t see myself getting burnt out on it anytime soon. With that said, should I ask her for a little heavier work load, or perhaps a piece that’s a little above my skill level that I have to learn to play? Let me know what you guys think, and also maybe let me know of some good ways to keep feeling challenged.
