Rybak, Bartek


Bartek Rybak was born in Lowicz, Poland, in 1976. He graduated from the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw with distinction in 2000 and from the Amsterdam Conservatory in 2002. He studied conducting with Prof. Szymon Kawalla and piano with Prof. Maria Stojek and Prof. Jan Marisse Huizing. During this time he won the 1st prize at the Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Sochaczew. In 1998 he was awarded the 3rd prize at the Penderecki Contemporary Music Competition in Krakow and at the Lantier Competition of Interpretation, Paris in 1999. 

He has participated in master classes with many great pianists: Andrzej Jasinski, John O Connor, Rudolf Buchbinder, Eugene Indjic and Philippe Entremont. 

Bartek Rybak has given many concerts in Poland as a soloist and a chamber musician. He has also performed recitals in Holland, France, Switzerland, Germany, England, Belgium, Kuwait and Egypt and made his debut as a conductor with the Kielce Symphony Orchestra in 1996. In 1999 he played a recital in Die Hochschule der Kunst, Berlin and at the Polish Culture Institute. In March 2001 he conducted the Radak Ensemble during the Dutch Culture Festival in Paris. 

Bartek Rybak has made several recordings for Polish Radio in Warsaw and has recorded a CD of Polish contemporary music. He received many scholarships and accolades including awards from the Holland Music Sessions, the Polish Culture Foundation and the Vonkfonds-Amsterdam. 

Bartek Rybak is professor of piano in the music department of the College of Basic Education in Kuwait.
