Ballades

4 Ballades, Op. 10

Brahms wrote his set of 4 Ballades, Op. 10, in 1856. They were dedicated to Julius Grimm. The first Ballade is inspired by the Scottish ballad "Edward" from Herder's "Stimme der Völker". These four piece are amongst Brahms' most accessible and popular piano works.
