Isaac Albéniz composed this set of 6 Hojas de Album (Album Leaves) in 1890.
The Tango may well be Albéniz' most popular composition, together with the Asturias/Leyenda and is widely known in a number of arrangements like the violin version by Jascha Heifetz and the spiced-up virtuoso transcription by Leopold Godowsky. The Malagueña is a Spanish dance song with a conventional harmonic basis. The Zortzico is an old Basque dance in quintuple time, in which the rhythm is marked on a percussion instrument.
