Sorry for all the stuff... but I had been quiet for some months Orest Yevlakhov was a pupil of Shostakovich who in turn became a repected teacher and professor at the Leningrad Conservatory. These little sketches may not be great music but they have a certain quaint charm. The March is a nice bit of Soviet pomposity. Anyway, it's something different ! Yevlakhov - Leningrad Sketchbook - 1: City (2:43) Yevlakhov - Leningrad Sketchbook - 2: Spring (1:24) Yevlakhov - Leningrad Sketchbook - 3: Novellette (1:56) Yevlakhov - Leningrad Sketchbook - 4: March (1:37)
I like 'different' and 'short' pieces! These are definitely different, however I wouldn't call them quaint. I do like the no. 2 "Spring", though, my favorite of the bunch. Too bad there are inaudible notes in that long descending run near the middle of the piece. On the March I think you use too much pedal or else too much reverb. Some places are bit too blurry. (too many too's)
These are interesting little pieces. I couldn´t listen with score here. Though I can´t judge, if they are played properly, I have enjoyed them very much. Thank you for sharing these little expressive pieces! My favorite is "March".
Hm yes, I don't seem to have noticed those. Better do this one again. Yes I admit this is a bit blustery. I did not spent all too much time on this set really. What irritates me here are the wimpy RH notes at the end. I'll redo this one too. Thanks for the feedback.
