I'm going to be in a masterclass with Leon Fleisher this Friday, playing the 4th Chopin ballade. I'm starting to get really nervous, but also REALLY excited! Has anybody here ever seen him before?
Wow, that is an incredible honour (*Canadian spelling) to be chosen for a masterclass with such a big name. Your playing is incredible, so you certainly deserve the spot. I recently read an article on him and it seems he is not only very talented, but also a very nice guy with a willingness to genuinely help other players. Be sure to take a photo, if you can! Good luck. You will do well.
Yes, I saw him here in Chicago play a short all-Bach program last year. He played "Sheep May Safely Graze", the Capricco in Bb, and the Brahms-Bach Chaconne for left hand. No encore. Very fluid and deeply musical, as one would expect from someone with so much experience, but he seemed like a very nice guy.
Gosh, you lucky talented bastard ! If nothing else, this will look great on your CV  I can see you'd be apprehensive sitting next to such a giant. But there is probably no need for that.
Have fun!!! and be in every moment ... it'd be awful to go thru it all in a nervous daze and not have a memories to recall!!
ahhh thanks guys! it really is an amazing honor. I will try to not be so nervous so that I can remember everything that happens  and I will DEFINITELY be taking pictures!!
Congratulations on this opportunity of a lifetime! How thrilling. You will have to post pictures so all of us can drool.
Well......................today's Saturday. We're all in suspense about how it went yesterday. What kinds of advice did he give to you and the others? -- Please pass along so we can use in our own playing. Also, am hoping you will submit mp3 of the Chopin Ballade you played. Hope you had a great time yesterday and am very eager to hear about it.
I choose to think that the 3-day congratulatory champagne binge he went on after his triumphant showing has yet to end!
