Ever since the technician returned my computer (minus all my recordings) I get this when I click on a link to a musical file, which makes downloading at times a little hard. However hard I try, I have not managed to identyify which plug-in it is, as I would very gladly remove it. Has anyone else seen one like this?

If by "downloading is hard," you mean "clicking on the file and listening to it is hard," you have a plugin problem.

If by "downloading is hard," you mean "I don't want to automatically listen to the file when I click on it--I want to save it instead," that's probably just an option in your web browser that you can set. In Firefox you go to Edit menu > Preferences > Applications, which has a list of file types and instructions for what Firefox should do with each file type, so you just set the mp3 file type to be "Ask me what to do every time". Looks like you have Internet Explorer so it will be different for you but there shoudl be a similar list somewhere.

    Hello, Heather,

Thank you for your comment. The latter is the case and I have figured out how to save the files, though now and then it does not quite work. I do use Firefox and I have set it to ask me what to do with MP3s. The funny thing is that the other day it did ask me what I wanted to do with a recording by Chris but did not give me the option when it came to one by David April. This must be what is called artificial intelligence.

This seems to be Netscape's new player. I see this too recently. Likely your technician has updated some software.
You can still do right mouse click -> Save link as to download pieces. I'm not aware of an option to ONLY download the file, not play it. Although
you can specify wherter to use a fixed download location or prompt for one every time.

    Thank you, Chris.

I had something similar before, but it was Quicktime and it never allowed me to save PS files, and at the time I had to remove it from the computer. This technician really made a job of it: I asked him to make a backup (neither the USBs or the DVD drives were working), but he knew better and knew all that I really needed was the documents folder, which was almost empty, because I keep everything elsewhere... Now, all my recordings are gone (except the ones that are up on the site, which I had to download), as well as some of our marriage pictures and so on, all because he knew what he was doing! Well: he has lost a client through his knowing more than I!

Ugh! So sad when a technician creates more problems than he solves!

As for your download issue, perhaps your computer feels that it knows David April already, but not Chris :)
