For all of you with a soft spot reserved for the short-lived Tausig, please take a few minutes and listen to these recordings. Thanks to Youtube and pianists, composers / arrangers who might have been forgotten to history can now still be heard:

    Das Geisterschiff (Ballade)

Nocturne op.3 (quite beautiful in my lowly opinion)

    Ungarische Zigeunerweisen (Part 1)

Fantasy on Moniuszko's "Halka" (Part 1)

    Beethoven/Tausig: Cavatina

    Scarlatti/Tausig/Rachmaninoff Sonata in D-minor, L413 (recorded in 1919)

Now, does it mean that the above performances are world class? THat's for you to decide. I just wanted to share the brilliance of Carl Tausig. Hopefully some of you will like it.

I only got through the first couple pieces here, but you are right, JG, that nocturne is very nice. I'm going to put it on my 'to do' list, since I don't have many T composers on my list of recordings. :)

knowing you, Monmon, it will sound very pretty. :p :D

p.s. He was only 30 years old when he died; and I thought Chopin died young

Oh, that's sad. It reminds us that we should live each day like there is no tomorrow. :!: ( I wish I could actually take that advice, but I'd surely get into a lot of trouble. )
