Bravo! I think you did an admirable job on these three preludes. I have the score for the Op. 34 Preludes, but have only read through parts of it. I tried sight reading the Op. 34, but didn't "connect' with any of the pieces. After hearing your performance, perhaps I'll give them another try. I've played only a couple of little pieces by Shostakovitch, but I enjoy listening to his music.

I followed the score carefully as you played and believe you played them perfectly according to my score...good rhythm, dynamics. Good work!

These are very good indeed. Perhaps they could be just a bit quirkier, spikier, and weirder, so as to capture more of S.'s nervy humour, but they sound very idiomatic. One or two bars where you are not entirely comfortable but that is not something to dwell on. Well done ! Roll on the complete set !
That reminds me to get on with the Op.87 set... still sadly stuck at no. 1.

What a strange man, that Shostakovich. I never used to like him at all, but this third piece appealed to me. I think I'm going through some kind of change. Jan, you played very nicely. Your tone and style fit just right.

Thank you for the kind responds. I was almost a bit surprised to read them, don't know why.

Ah, it seems this constant asking for complete sets is becoming a running gag...

They're not as difficult as the Chopin set, I think, and also a bit shorter, but I'm unsure about completing them. It would be quite a huge task for me and I don't think I like them so much that I had to them all.

A really good job as usual Jan-Felix and I really am fond of Shostakovich's works. I just don't dare to ruin the feeling by playing them myself ;).

And an extra star for always tagging the recordings properly. You are the only one who does that right :).

They are up on the site.
