    Hehe, the Mayas had it all wrong. The world was not going to end today and in fact it was a good day for recording.
    The first 4 are re-recordings of old stuff from 2006/2007, the last two are new. I spent a lot of TLC on these and hope they are ok despite some tiny imperfections.

    Indeed! Just like the Y2K scare... :lol:

    Had a listen to these re-recordings, they sound quite nice. I think they definitely benefited from your TLC :p

    The Mazurkas have a waltz-like appeal to them, while still keeping the emphasis on the 2nd and 3rd beat. Though I don't really care for the hectic throw-a-million-notes-at-the-listener writing of the Rustique especially closer to the end, albeit I think you made the best of it. Quite a flashbang ending ! :shock:

    The Valse sounded nice. I like the way you phrase the main theme, some might prefer more of a slowdown at the big stretch (is it an E to an F##?) I haven't the score but the short pause you rendered there I liked. For criticism, I thought you could have made more of a ritardando in the descending phrase. I listened to a recording by Marco Rapetti, he actually includes the b natural at the end of the phrase not as an upbeat to the next section (but still the first beat of the next section), which seems more natural IMO.

    The prelude I think is very good. One thing, I sense a discrepancy of notes between Hye-Jin's version and yours. She plays black keys in the melody (f#, a#, and g#) from 47 -48 in her recording| and in your recording at 60-61 seconds--thats something right there! you play it slower--I think it's a good decision given the pathos character of this piece. But I will say her performance has its own charms :) anyways I heard you play in the meldoy (g natural, a#, and g#). Must be different editions?

    Thanks Riley ! The G natural in the Prelude is a read error of mine which I only realized after recording when I listened to Hye-Jin's recording (which is truly excellent except for the dry digital sound). Maybe I should redo it but I'm otherwise quite content with this version.

    Hi Chris,

    I had time tonight to listen to the two preludes. Both are played with much thoughtfulness and sensitivity. The Op. 57, No. 1 has a beautiful lyricism throughout which you brought out in your playing ever so well. In this piece Liadov definitely gives a nod to Chopin.

    Thanks for the feedback David. Liadov could quite shamelessly emulate Chopin and Scriabin, but he did it so exceedingly well that you readily forgive him for being unoriginal. I like to think Chopin would have been mighty envious of this Prelude, it is of a rare quality.

    Yes, I agree. I think Chopin would have been quite moved by this prelude of Liadov.
