Some time ago I remember reading that attachments on the forum, such as photographs and scores, were only visible to members. Is this not so?

I will tell you why: Today I searched for myself, "Richard Willmer" on http://www.yandex.ru and lo and behold! the first image associated with me that popped out was of a picture I placed on this forum of our daughter at the piano.

I know I've posted a lot of photos of myself here on the forum and they do not pop up on a search of myself, so I tend to think that 'our' photos posted on the forum do not pull up on a search, but I'm not totally sure.

I am not sure how exactly this can happen, because yes, you can only see attachments once you have logged in. Maybe you posted a link to some other place, Flickr or whatever ?

In any case one should probably assume that everything you put on the Internet is for grabs, and that there is no such thing as security or privacy....

Actually, you can see attachments if you are not logged in.

Darn, yes indeed ! But it did not use to be like this, many people complaining they did not see the recordings in AR.
Can't remember if maybe we have changed it for that reason ? I think we should require that people log in before they can listen
to AR recordings (if only to know that they've been here at all). I can't find where to change this now, hmmm.... But not sure if we should change it back !?

One thing I did change just now is that the General forum is now also visible to users not logged on. No idea why that was not the case before.

No: that picture, if you look, is clearly taken from the PS forum. If you click it that is where you will go.

The whole thing is that I do not really mind if they are visible or not to everyone, but this must be clearly stated and be up to date.

Maybe if I had known it was visible to all, I would not have posted it. As it is, there is no way to identify the girl, so no harm is done, but supposing a member were to publish a frivolous picture of himself, thinking only fellow members can see it, only to find out the chap to whom he sent his CV yesterday has ditched him because of it.

Actually, with this Internet it is getting almost impossible to create targeted CVs.
