Lovely, really excellent. Definitely post them as mp3s; there should be no problem with 7Mb file size.

When you transfer them to an <mp3> format, the size will go down. Part of that 7 Mb is the picture. <mp3> will compress the audio and keep reasonable quality.

Unfortunately I was speaking about the real size of Mp3, not the video.
Well, once the CD will be released (i hope before the end of May) than I will post Mp3 :)

Actually, as I look at the sizes of recent file that I have downloaded from the PS audition room, 7Mb is reasonable.

Mauro is already a member and should know to put up mp3s if he wants them on the site. And if he claims that he forgot, then it is because he is one of those members who only come here when he has new recordings and that's it.

    I didn't forget.
I could have explained in a wrong way my question.
The size of the mp3 from these new CDs are much bigger than waht I've already posted (years ago) on this website. I was concerned only by that. If there is a place that say the biggest size a file can be to be upload, then it's my fault because I didn't have the time to read instructions.

If I write only when I have new recordings it doesn't mean that I don't visit the forum...
I wish I could have more time to spend writing but I don't.

If you want only "active member" please let me know and I won't bother you again posting new recordings.

    Thanks
    Mauro

It seems a bit ungrateful to turn down such excellent recordings, but yes, we do prefer to be a community of more or less active members, not just a place where all pianists in the world can simply dump a couple of recordings every now and then. Certainly we should start to discourage the increasingly popular habit of posting links to Youtube or other places. The Audition Room is for submitting mp3's that are intended to be included on the site, and except for the first time, people should know how to do that (and what the rules are).

As for the size of mp3's, a rule of thumb is that they're about 1 Mb per minute. So, 7 Mb is not at all worrying (but I did not check the
durations of your recordings). If these are bigger than your previous ones, that could mean that are using a lower compression rate (i.e. more kilobits per second) than before. Mp3 compression rate should be between 128 Kbs and 192 Kbs.

That's curious. Commercial music CDs don't generally carry mp3 files anyway.

for musical-md : I've just asked to my sound engineer to create mp3 files for me from the Cd tracks.

for techneut : I understand, don't worry. (7Mb was only for Scarlatti which are the shorter pieces I've recorded, for the other tracks it can go up to 40Mb). Unfortunaly as I said before I wish to have the time to be more active on the forum but it's really impossible for me. Also the fact (for me) to upload now and then it's just because I don't have the opportunity to record CDs weekly, that's the reason because it could take months/years before I can post new tracks.
But now that I know better the goal of this community I realize that it won't be possible for me (at least right now) to continue posting links to new tracks in the way I did during past few weeks. Should I have in future more time for that, than I will come back :)

If ever there was a case for bending the rules, surely it's here, when a pianist could make available mp3s for free when they form part of a commercial enterprise i.e. his own cd? That said, it's certainly not my place to tell you how to run the forum, and the rules are there for a reason.

I love the first one...and amazing recording quality!
How long have you been playing piano? These are undoubtedly professional recordings...amazing joy. I love the sense of dialogue in classical music.

    Mauro,

Bravo for your beautiful expressiveness with these Scarlatti Sonatas.

Your timing and use of melody are really interesting. In the second sonata the imitation or repetition of little motifs is wonderful. The coordination of the hands is perfect.
The third sonata is very busy and yet crystline clear in where it is going.
