I did some recording last Sunday... came back w/ 2 new pieces! Here's Scarlatti's Sonata in A Major, k.39 Scarlatti - K.39, Sonata in D major
Chris M.! I was just wondering where you'd wondered off to. Glad to see ya. This was really great! I really love that intro motif ... Good job! I'll listen to the ravel after kids get home.
Chris M? Are you confusing me with someone else? :? Anyway yeah that opening is so fun to play! I love how easy it is in comparison with how it sounds haha
  I'm not laughing at you, Andrew, but at Nathan, because I have called you Chris M before too, but then changed it when I realized my mistake. Or did I - now I'm sort of mixed up. What confused me and probably Nathan was your screen name, versus the real Chris M whose screen name is demonic advent. He is another one we have not seen here in a while. No time now, but I'll try to get to your music soon.
Seems to be a very accurate performance, may be at some places a bit dry, though you have also dynamics and expression in it. You show a very good and precise technique here. Did you play it on a digital piano? A bit reverb could be a solution for the dryness of this recording. But on the other hand this has it´s special fascination. The wma-file has a good sound-quality. Do you think, that wma-files sound better than mp3-files? This would be very interesting for me.
Ah, seems to be much confusion as to who I am... It really has been too long! Andrew was closer (I've had countless people call me Andrew or Andy when they forget my name), but I am actually Austin Kendrick The reason for this recording being so dry is because we had the 2 mics right up almost inside the piano, because we wanted the recordings to be very clear (they are for an audition CD for a radio program). And also, I'm a firm believer that baroque music should never have any pedal, so that probably adds to the dryness too a bit hehe.
Hi Austin, diminished2nd wrote: I´m exact of this opinion, too. I play f. ex. all the Well Tempered Clavier I (of which I´m making a complete-recording at this time) without pedal, but I just put a bit reverb to my recordings. But, of course, this is a matter of taste. The clearness of your recordings has a real fascination.
As stated in the Submissions and Recording Tips, files must be in .mp3 format. Austin, please change your two recordings and resubmit. Thanks
Ah, my bad! I forgot about that I'll have to get them on my own computer and change them over (I've been on my mom's laptop lately...)
Long time since I saw you submitting a recording and a good one it was. Non-pedal is a matter of choice of course and I don't miss it. What I miss is a little bit of reverb which could ease up the pretty stiff sound board. But your playing is flawless and musically, it is very well implemented. I have converted the recording from wma to mp3 and have put it up on the site.
