Hi everyone, I hope everyone is doing well. I am sorry that I haven't been on in a while but I have been running around like a chicken without a head for the last few months LOL! I just took part in a music festival where I got to play two solos: Scarlatti - Sonata in B Minor K27 (I was told to leave the repeats out) Copland - Scherzo Humoristique "The Cat and the Mouse" I hope you like these Happy listening! Copland - The cat and the mouse (4:19) Scarlatti - Sonata K.27 (1:50)
Hi Jen, Welcome back. Good playing, especially the Copland (I find the Scarlatti a bit soggy, sorry). A pity that the sound is not too hot, and that creaking noise the piano makes (is it the pedal ?) is truly irritating. As to the repeats in the Scarlatti, you should not have done as you were told, it's a bit bare without the repeats. This Sonata is so short already, and the repeat offers wonderful opportunities to redeem oneself and bring some variation. I'll put these on the site later.
Yes, we had an issue with the piano pedal. So yeah you can hear it in the recording. I, too, like the repeats. I will be performing these pieces again in NYC and told my coach that I want the repeats in their LOL. I think she was just concerned about the total length of the concert. I was not the only performer on there.
