hi Folks, Dont know how many of you guys were influenced as I was, by Satie? (not to mention Ravel, Debussy and Poulenc - what an era for French piano music!). Recently, I wrote a new piece which, of all my music reminds me most of the music of Satie and so I gave it the name “Saticity” (I also intended a double meaning in the similarity to the word “satiety” carrying the meaning of satisfaction, sufficiency, and repletion). Ive put together a video for my piece, and I found the perfect visual accompaniment when I discovered that Satie was friends with some amazing artists including Francis Picabia, Man Ray and Marcel Duchamp. So, please do have a look/listen and let me know what you think, warm wishes, Rich https://youtu.be/JARqSrQu-4U
I definitely hear Satie in your piece! I enjoyed it and look forward to hearing more of your pieces. I am also a composer here on PS, and find myself also inspired by the greats. I don't know that others in the classical music world would mention him in the same sentence as Bach, Chopin and Liszt, but his was a different kind of music, from a different time. I also hear Phillip Glass in your piece. Question for you, what kind of piano do you use? It sounds rather realistic if it is in fact a VST piano?
Is this a compostion by yourself? It´s very nice and I have enjoyed it very much. Thank you for sharing! I´m also a friend a minimalistic structures and "new simplicity" and all, what goes in direction of a more meditative piano music. That´s why I not only have recorded some complete sets by Satie, but also Ludovico Einaudi.
Hi Pianoman, sorry for the delay in replying to you - glad you enjoyed my piece yes Im inspired by Philip Glass too. I recorded the piece on a Roland FP4 digital piano, although I recently bought a East West's Quantum Leap virtual piano and am planning to use that for future recordings. Warm wishes, Rich
Hi Musicusblau - thanks, yes I wrote that one myself. Sounds like we have very similar ideas about music
