I have been acquainted to this seasonal site for at least three years (it is only available during the first half of the year), but it had some interesting scores which they publish, obviously pieces that are to be used in the competition. The scores seem only to be available on the Russian version, however:

    http://www.piano.ru/library.html

What its worth is as a competition I do not know, but this is their site, this time in English:

    http://www.piano.ru/

    To Chirs and Monica:

would it not be an idea to create a new page on the main site called "useful resources", where, after review by members, one could place links to these? I find that being in this forum they have linited use, as one needs to seach the whole forum to find something, that is, if one knows it is there...

Thanks for the information, Richard. Some interesting composers on the list.

Regarding adding a 'useful resources' category to the main site's navigational tree - my thoughts are that we want people to come to PS to hear all our great music, and read nice bios, etc, not just to get links to other links. But then again, it might be nice if someone were listening to a particular piece of music and could then right on our site find links to websites that may have the score. So hmmmm....something to ponder....Maybe Chris will chime in here too.

It could be made available only to members of the forum as well as of the main site, for example, that will stop people using piano society to go to other sites while at the same time serving as a useful resource for people who already belong. Or one can set the page not to be indexed by seach engines.

Thanks for finding it, though not much is actually in English.

I am not in favor of maintaining a 'Useful links' section. There are more than enough link farms around already for everybody to find everything they are looking for. A link to IMSLP in the left column of the main page would make sense though, because they link to our recordings too.

True, but the Russian link on my computer came up with un-translatable gibberish (mostly vowels with various accent marks - not Cyrillic) including the composers names. At least the English link had the composers and some of the titles in the Roman alphabet.

I really thought of this as a resource exclusively for members and no one else. In any case link farms have been out for years. I on my sites have not been accepting links for a year now (though I did place a link to PS in them) and they are doing very well, thank you. :D

But you already redirect to IMSLP, if I am not mistaken.

On firefox you need to go on to Visualise and then codify and then unicode or cyrillic, though on all computers I use Cyrillic characters are displayed automatically.

Whether you are on the Russian site or the English site, if you hover over the Russian word, you will see it automatically translated on the very lower left-hand corner of your window - starts with http://sheetmusic...etc.

But only if you have the automatic translation feature turned on. I only remember seeing that once and at times results were hilarious.

In any case if you want anything from them the time is now, because they usually vanish in June, only to return after the new year.
