I am happy to post a number of high quality recordings played by Randolph Hokansson at his own 90th birthday!!! It is amazing that he can still play the piano at this high age and so remarkable well. It seems like playing the piano is a certain way to a long and healthy life. Keep on playing . First, listen to his comments before the concert. Comments before the concert by Randolph Hokanson himself Bach - BWV.912, Toccata in D major Bach - BWV.878, Prelude and Fugue in E major from WTK II Beethoven - Op.90, Piano Sonata in E minor, Complete (two movements) Chopin - Op.52, Ballade no.4 in F minor Chopin - Op.25 no.6, Etude in G-sharp minor Schubert - Op.90 no.1, Impromptu no.1 in C minor Also, here is his photo.
The world might end before then! Which finger will push the button for nuclear warfare is still up to debate. But it is certainly possible. :? You'll find me humming along to Bach in a cave that's for sure.
Ah... the scary old cold war myth of fingers poised above red buttons. I thought that was dead and buried by now.
I´m really very impressed, how beautiful, clear and ripe are these recordings! Very much respect, and I think, it´s a very solid and profound playing, we are allowed here to listen to. Great! Thank you very much for posting.
Is Smullyan no longer the oldest pianist on this site? I wonder how long this title will last?
Ni he is not. Randolph is. 91 this year. That is one of the nicest thing about piano playing. You can keep doing your hobby the entire life!
