My teacher suggested that I do this one for the fall semester, and I haven't quite warmed up to it yet. Thanks for the recording - you did a really great job. :)

Do you have any more favorite Rachmaninoff preludes? I just got them all, and if I don't do this one in the fall, I'll do another one. I haven't decided which to do yet. Should I ask that question on the Repertoire forum?

Never heard this one before. The only thing I found disturbing was the moments of clipping during the forte sections. But I can bear it :p

Terez - this is definately a piece that will haunt you (positively) once you get started on it. Its definately one of those pieces that you will never tire of playing, but I can empathize about some works that are harder to get motivated on than others! From the Op. 23 set, I also really like no. 3, no. 2 (pending your technique since this one is barn-burning fast!), no. 7 and no. 9 (incredible work).

Sorry about the blip in the middle of clip - I'm really not sure what happened there!!

You captured the feeling of this prelude beautifully. That is a great accomplishment in a live performance. The dynamic contrasts were quite effective. Never mind about the bit of clipping; it's not your fault. It wasn't that bad anyway---take it from one who knows what clipping is.

Wonderfully played! And great piano sound too - what instrument is it ? A shame about that clipping as it seems to kick in as soon as you reach mezzoforte. A very well-earned applause. There is hardly anything to be improved except that you could perhaps be a bit more expansive in the great climax.

We'll now need you bio and photo to put you on the site !

The piano is actually a Steinway D, I believe. It is from the university concert hall where I did one of my student recitals.

Thanks for the replies so far and keep them coming!
