I've watched some of Sear's videos. He was recently mentioned briefly in an issue of Gramophone magazine, which says something.
He's a dependable and efficient pianist but rather mass-producing tons of mostly easy repertoire, played from sheet with fixed camera position and apparently without any editing, obnoxious page turns and all. Some interesting things to be found there, and also a lot of watery drivel. While there's seldom anything wrong with his recordings they're not exactly imaginative, in fact I find them rather drab as a rule.
Had I videotaped all of my PS recordings I'd be ahead of him 8)

You've got that many recordings on PS? Who are you?? :? :?

I know what you mean about Sear's videos. My first reaction was that they were not very interesting - I'm just amazed at the number of videos.

If you investigate further you will see he works playing in weddings and parties, where I doubt anyone is even listening. He obviously has all the qualities of a songplugger. How many people can deliver at first reading? I certainly cannot. Now, if you look at him as an encyclopaedia rather than a musician, he is great: name a piece and lo and behold! you go to him to see how it sounds! Recently I have found him delivering pieces I thought I was alone in practising.

This statement did cause me some confusion. I'm glad it's been cleared up

There's some interesting stuff on the channel, though the sound quality seems questionable at times.

Could well be :D Strange things happen here sometimes.

Anyway, I have to hand it to Sear, he seldom puts a foot wrong, not even in a more substantial piece like Godowsky's Vindobona.
    This is no mean achievement.
