Why, we're glad we have found you, too ! That is a splendid rag of which Joplin could have been proud. I find it most interesting when you suddenly break out into the blues (or some other idiom that goes way beyond ragtime). Some very original twists in there, and very well played. You have this music in your blood, that is clear. Great piece of work !

Excellent sound quality and piano. Excellent playing! I am not too much of a fan of Blues / Jazz but every once and a while is OK. This should keep my Blues-Jazz-hunger satisfied for another four or five months.

OK, since you are so nice to me, I'll upload another file...
I wanted to upload another rag, but I guess I'll wait the "four or five months" and in the meantime upload something else...

Chopin - Op.58, Piano Sonata in B minor, 4. Finale: Presto

NO NO NO!!!! Don't listen to me as an authority! You will understand the characters of this forum but it just takes time to know us.

Robert and Techneut are the owners / admins of the site. The rest of us are just pea-ons.

You can post whatever you want and whenver you want.

    -JG

p.s. Nice execution on the sonata. My favorite of Chopin's.

p.p.s About posting: learn from someone else's mistakes--if one of your recordings is not up to their standards, wait a while (month or so) and really work on it; instead of fixing it overnight and posting again. One of the above mentioned does not appreciate overposting

Sorry, I am a bit confusing at times. What I meant is that, for example, you submit a recording with a few errors in it. If this recording is rejected at the time because of the errors, then take your time practicing it and removing those errors. I once submitted a simple piece by Mozart (Minuet) with one error in it (tempo was off at the end), I went back and rerecorded it the same day. After I thought it was fixed I submitted it on the site (one day after my initial submission). This attempt was scorned and I was told to take more time.

That's essentially what I meant. Sorry. But judging by your recordings I see that you are an accomplished pianist, so you wont have troubles when you submit recordings :)

I think there is little change of you submitting anything of insifficient quality, seeing as you are being described as Israel's foremost pianist. And the recordings support that. The Chopin is awesomely played, if a touch grim and relentless. I miss the charm and ease of your rag here. There could be a bit more poetry here.
I guess this is a quite old recording ? The sound is a bit distant and wobbly.

You are right about the chopin being an old recording. That was when I was young and too full of energy... Besides, in those days I just took it of the air when a radio recital of mine was being broadcast...
I have plenty of insufficient quality recordings, I'll try not to submit them...
    Regards,
    Rami

Finally, I completed to add you both as a pianist and as a composer to the site. Sorry it took so long and the reason is me being a bit lazy as I could not copy/paste your biography from your home site but had to write it off, word by word. Incredible how lazy we have become these days ;).

Anyway, please have a look and see if you like it. If there is anything you wish to change, just let me know.

Your Blue rag was really a refreshing experience and your composers skills are of the highest rank. As Chris, already mentioned, it could have been written by the father of rags himself but if I may say so, I even think this outrank Joplin's compositions in some aspects.

Your interpretation of Chopin's last movement of the Op.58 sonata proves your extreme skills at the piano but I was not surprised that it would be very good as you are a world famous pianists, been touring all over the planet etc. (for anyone not knowing his background, please read his biography). Despite that the sound quality is not the best, however definitely good enough for the site, your clarity and precise touch, combined with a carefully planned interpretation makes recording the highest rank. You are able to catch the mood of the piece, the fury, the frustration and keep the tension high which I really like. You had my ears open wide as well as my mind all the way through and put a big smile on my face and got my adrenalin pumping. Wonderful!

Nowadays, we are so spoiled with perfect audio quality that we sometimes put that first, which I really think is a pity. For me, unless there sound quality is terrible which is definitely is NOT, I soon forget the sound when the music appears. But that is personal of course. Anyway, if you have more recordings of the same quality as this, I would be more than happy to host them on Piano Society.

    Welcome!!!

I agree with Robert about the rag - that's some awesome stuff. The opening was rather conventional, but you got more adventurous as you went on. And you also picked one of my favorites by Chopin. :)

Anyhow, I hope you contribute some more of your own stuff. I'm looking forward to it. ;)

Hi, in my opinion the toccata sounds great!!I like the energy you put in this piece, the technique you show here is amazing. Did you record it on a digital piano?

The reporter on NYTimes said that the culture pages was planned for the next 3 days but look for it on Saturday.

Your other two movements of the Chopin Sonata was of absolute top class too. I would not have expected anything else. Did I hear a wrong key in one chord of the Largo? ;)

Perhaps you wish to add something on the site about when and how these recordings were made? Such details always draw some attention.

Again thanks for the good words, Robert.
It's possible you heard a wrong note, I don't remember, haven't listened to it in a long time...
Will add some background notes as you suggested.

Corrected the linking mistake and they now load.

You can put the information right here in this topic and I will add it to the site.

I how by now also added your powerful and strong Toccata. I also add the text: "This Toccata was composed in 1973 and is dedicated to the peace between Israel and Egypt." If there is something more you wish to add and perhaps also to your Rag, just post it right away in this topic.
