In march 2005 I recorded this piece on a Steinway piano. The beginning is one fragment of a violin Sonata, Mozart had started to write and Maximilian Stadler completed the thing, but it`s really nice. I hope you like also my recording. Best Greetings

Very artistic, sensitive playing. Good to hear something I've never heard before. Thanks for sharing it with us.

What a strange piece this is ! I had never heard this before, and to my ears it could have been written by any (lesser) composer of the period. Not vintage Mozart and it does not surprise me if he lost whatever little inspiration he had, and did not bother finishing it. Or is this is a late work he was unable to complete ? It does not sound like it. I did not see in the score where Abt Stadler took over (usually these things are written in). Did not hear it either, must be a seamless join. I have great respect for Stadler, he did a good job on completing the Allegro KV400 and the Fugue KV401.

You play this beautifully, if a bit understated. Perhaps a work like this could do with a little more drama. A wise choice not to repeat the exposition, I think. One thing I wonder about is in the second part, bar 6, at the legato marking, my score says piano, and you play it forte. Perhaps my score is wrong. Anyway, thamk you for presenting this lesser-known work ! I will add this to the site shortly.

It was written by Mozart perhaps in 1782 for piano and violin, but actually the violin part is not very "dominant" , the violin is just written from bar 23 with some chords, then similar things as the piano in 25 and 26, one instrument line completing and answering to the other, and it ends in unisono. From bar 28 Stadler completed the piece.
But I was a little bit surprised that this piece is so unknown, because I have some recordings by Gieseking and Edwin Fischer at home...so it is good I sent it

    Second part bar six: piano?
this is quite strange...in my Henle score there is nothing written: no piano and no legato. I hope we are looking at the same place...(bar 33 of the piece). I m sure it has to be strong here, also because are these piano-forte changes later. Sometimes we can not look in the editors head:

Thanks for the nice comments on my playing!

    Julia

Yes it is. Great to have not just the things that everybody plays but also some more unknown repertoire - well at least unknown to me

Well, I am only looking at an electronic CD SheetMusic version, see attached image. If Henle Urtext does not have these, they're probably not authentic. I quite agree with your forte here, it sounds good too.[/quote]

This was new to my ears too and does not sound typically Mozartian, espeically in the beginning and it is not hard to guess that this part was not written for solo piano.

    Very good playing!
