hi you all! I've recently bought a restored Steinway A3 and I have made made some few recordings. The piano is not ready yet. It needs to be played a lot, it was not even voiced yet, and from times to times the restorer comes home to regulate it. This is the first recording I made in it, after the first regulation. I hope you enjoy it. There's also a video of it on YT (same audio): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6d3r60jKK8 Nocturne, Op. 10
My son borrowed my good earphones..I don't know where they are... so I had to listen to this on my regular speakers (which are at least also very good), and this sounded nice, Luis! It's certainly different from your Yamaha, but maybe there are a few keys that still need some more regulating? Overall, the sound on your new Steinway is very pleasing. I'll put this up and also your other Brahms recording over the weekend. I'm half asleep right now...
Ok, this one is up. Fyi....when you are replacing a file, you want to name it exactly as the older file that you are replacing. Your first file on the site was: miguez-noturno-10-sarro.mp3. Your new file here was named: miguez-10-sarro....and that's what I went with...accidentally not noticing first that it was named the other way. That means that there are now both of your files on the server. Chris, if you see this, please take miguez-noturno-10-sarro off the server.
Nice playing and nice piano sound, congrats on your Steinway! I bought one a few years ago and never regretted it. The YT clip is for some reason badly synched. I don't know if it is my viewer or the recording. Joachim
hi, Joachim! there are two problems of sync: first, when I were on Windows with my Windows Movie Maker, it was very clear to me that YouTube itself does something that makes the video out of sync. but now I have another problem: I am on Ubuntu using OpenShot, the only program I know that can easily edit videos on Linux, and this program has some bugs of synchronization... if you have any suggestions of what program to use, I'd appreciate. as far as I know, OpenShot is the only option.
Hi Luis, Nice playing! The piano is clearly new. Isn't it fun to play all kinds of music on a new piano? I especially like the way you shape all those flourishes (1:30 and nearby) so thoughtfully. I have noticed the same problem with OpenShot. Every time you play the video in the program it knocks it out of sync. Youtube's synchronization problem is because youtube prioritizes speed over exact sync. I don't know if there are any streaming sites that work differently. I like Pitivi for video editing in Linux. Or at least, I dislike Pitivi less than every other program I've tried. It crashes a lot more often than OpenShot, but it is easier to control the results. Just make sure you save your work often!!
A lovely piece and some very nice playing, especially the nuances and shaping. The piano sounds good too, and once it's settled in I'm sure it will be a pleasure to play!
