liszt's first mephisto waltz is probably one of my fav. pieces, it's just so wild and loud, but at the same time liszt found a way to make the entire piece so beautiful, esp. the part toward the end with the period of long scales in the right hand and the chords in the left hand. whoever can play that incredibly difficult piece, i salute you  .give me your thoughts on the piece but i read that he wrote three more of these. does anyone know where i can get a recording of these (besides itunes). i know that the 4th one is unfinished so there probably arent any recordings of that, but what about the other two?
I have all three of them on CD, played by Leslie Howard. I can't remember very well how these pieces are and I don't have time to re-listen them (it's 8 am here  ), so I'll give my comments later. As much as I remeber they are quite different from the first one.
You can find free MIDIs and some (MP3?) recordings here: http://www.classicalarchives.com/liszt.html#liszt_piano You can find some samples here: http://www.amazon.com/Liszt-Waltzes-Les ... F8&s=music That's all I can find..
Thanks, I appreciate it, but is there any website where you can save the files and not have to pay or subscribe?
You don't have to pay. You can simply register as a free member. Your downloads will be limited to 5 day, but that's enough to download 3 waltzes.
Well I finally just registered, but I still can't download the MP3 files! Only the midi or wax (whatever that is) files. I'm looking to put these on my iPod, so I guess that didn't work. But at least I still got to listen to them. I guess I'll just ask again, but do you know of any other websites where you can get free MP3 files? I appreciate you telling me these things, I hope I don't sound ungrateful. Actually come to think of it, possibly somewhere where you can download the Leslie Howard CD of the waltzes?
I have played Mephisto no.1 and I can tell you it is exciting piece to play! My favourite parts are scherzo-like (stacc. octaves in RH) and arpeggios right after scherzo. My favourite recording is Stephen Hough and Kemal Gekic. But I have few more including Leslie Howard and Van Cliburn.
Do you know where I can download the Revenge of the Sith DVD? This ain't a place for warez, pal. There's enough of that on the Internet. But you do not want to get a great site like this shut down.
Correct. Go elsewhere with discussions like that! I am not willing to take any chances and have put in thousands of hours working on this site. I would take any action needed to sort out copyright issues.
Wow, I was stupid to not even think of these things. Sorry about my ignorance. Maybe I'll buy the CD instead.
