    Hello Vladimir,

The melody is emphatically brought out. This stylistic nuance works in your performance and is a matter of taste.
There are very slight rushes in tempo in two spots that seemed not quite perfect but most other rubato effects are very good.

It has a wonderful soulful quality.
Thank you for sharing a very interesting presentation of melody and accompaniment.

    Kaila Rochelle

    Hi Kaila,

I remember listenig to this piece for the first time.... it was Emil Gilels' recording; a wonderful dialogue of voices, serious and deep as if"telling the story" and above all, a very full & rich sound. I had this performance in mind when playing it myself.
    Thanks for you comment.
Great to hear from you! :)

    Vladimir

This is beautiful, Vladimir. I have uploaded the piece on the Mendelssohn relevant page. However, I don't find your personal page. I am enquiring about that...

There are a lot of beautiful pièces in these Mendelssohn's songs ... Thank you Vladimir for giving me the possibility to discover this one (I should admit that I just have a very partial knowledge of these pièces!). One feels you completely engaged when playing it!
    Best, Bertrand

Indeed very beautiful. I liked the rubatos, they emphasize the singing quality. The last minute or so I found much less interesting, the music meanders too much there, but this is hardly your fault.
