I wasn't sure which section of the forum I should post this in — too bad we don't have a "Classroom" forum. Here is a recording of a recent masterclass I had with Richard Goode, in which I played the Liszt sonata (or about two-thirds of it — we stopped just before the fugue). Hopefully, you may learn something from it.
woww  First of all The liszt sonata is the sonata of my heart. second. Good performance in my eyes. A few mistakes but doesn't bother. I really likes the commentary. I think you are brave to play this for mr. Goode. And that you post the commentary on piano society. Because there are several points that Mr. Goode doesn't like that much Thank you!!!!!
This is the perfect place for this post. Thanks for posting it. In a way, what happens on the 'audition' site, place, thread, whatever you call it, is like a master class.
Thanks for posting that ! Always illuminating what such a great artist has to say about the music. Like many great artists, he seems to think very vocally, and this makes me realize once more how very operatic a piece this is. Fingers itch to pick it up again and work hard on it. It must be wonderful (and humbling) to have masterclasses with pianists of this calibre. Couple of years from now, you'll probably be giving them yourself
Here's Chopin's Fouth Ballade from my masterclass with Richard Goode a year ago. God, my performance of it was so much worse than I remembered! (I just managed to get this from the A-V archives yesterday.) This is just the piece; Richard's comments will come in the next post. I've been trying to put them together in one post, but it failed the third time, so I'm not going to try that again as it takes forever to upload . . .
Great performances! You are so receptive to Mr. Goode's profoundly artistic suggestions. It was an honor to hear a Maestro in the Rough such as yourself play and to get a glimpse into Goode's genius. I'm inspired and moved. Thank you! Pierre
I will listen to them later on. The weekend are just too hectical. I think you put the topic in the correct forum even though we do not have a forum explicitely for masterclasses. Pretty sure that would be a pretty quiet forum. Are the problems with many attachments in the same post or with large attachments? The limit we have put is 250 MB so that should not be the problem. Is the browser timing out? If you check the register of your browser locally, you will find a timeout value in IE of 30 minutes.
Yes, I think my browser must be timing out . . . I've still not successfully uploaded the rest of the Chopin Ballade masterclass, though I've tried over and over again.
