Thank you to those who donated to Piano Society in 2017.

A brief bio: I began playing at the age of 8. Am classically trained. Began studies at the University of Missouri Conservatory of Music at age 15, but dropped out due to hopelessly poor sight reading skills. Instead, I began playing ragtime in clubs in Kansas City and St. Louis during the 1970's. Tracks from my CDs were featured on NPR's "All Songs Considered" and a PBS documentary about the 1915 San Francisco World's Fair. I was a semi-finalist in the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest and a featured performer at the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival. I was a producer and music director for the award-winning documentary "The Entertainers" and authored a multi-media presentation about the history of ragtime called "The Heroes of Parlor Town." Do a YouTube search on "Brent Watkins Ragtime" and you'll see recorded performances at a variety of venues.
In spite of all this, I still struggle being the pianist I want to be and am passionate about helping others achieve their goals as a musician, regardless of the genre they prefer.
