New album of "intensely pleasant music" for piano released - contemporary piano music by me, a youngish British composer (a duet, a fiendish toccata and seven Airs & Fantasias) - it's had some good reviews - you can hear recordings and get scores at www.cd.tp/ipm08 (or on Spotify or Napster etc) - and I'd love to hear your comments! There's also a piece for piano triet (six hands at one piano) - recording available from http://www.johnpitts.co.uk/spnmfreedownload/ipm08a.mp3
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John,

I listened to all the excerpts and agree with the quoted reviewers. So far I did not find them all equally fetching (maybe one needs to hear more of them) but they're all good, and some exceptionally so. I am glad that composers these days are allowed to compose tuneful and pleasing music again. Some decades ago, music like this would have been all but ridiculed away. You're also not ashamed to show your influences, and so it should be. I hear Debussy, Satie, Ravel, Ligeti, Adams, and Corigliano for example. I especially like the duet, triet, and toccata. If I was a better player, and looking for some nice contemporary music, I'd definitely consider some of these pieces. Could never play it as marvellously as Steven Kings, though.

Great stuff, thanks for posting !
