Anybody playing any Chopin these days? I am not. There are a couple more Preludes I'd like to record someday, though....

Scherzo no.3 in C# minor, Op.39. (long in my repertoire but still finding new things in it)

Oh yes - I love the trickling raindrops in that one. :)

Hardly. I had embarked on a new Mazurka cycle but too much new stuff keeps distracting me. Even old Bach is sort of on the backburner these days.

FYI, I restore the adjustments made to the composition at the extreme ends of the piano that were necessary due to the smaller range of Chopin's piano. Does that make me evil?

Thanks for reminding us, Monica! Composer's birthdays seem to pop up on the actual day. Funny that you mention Chopin (duh, no surprise, right?), but there seems to be a disproportionately little amount of Chopin submissions on PS. I don't know why. Too popular? I think we are in a down cycle for Chopin these days. You know what that means, right? Another Chopin movie has to be released to inspire people to learn Chopin again. :D Lately, I've been playing the posthumous waltzes No. 16 in A-flat and No. 17 in E-flat. But, I don't practice enough to make a perfect single take - I always miss a few notes here and there, then the cursing begins, and that's the end of a session. :p

I hate to say it, but I'm a little burned out on Chopin right now. Not that I don't still love his music, but I don't feel like playing any of it or even listening to it.

Oh Monica, what happened to you? But somehow I could understand you a bit...
I personally play Op.10-1 from time to time. I just wanted to enter the world of his etudes, and the attractives harmonies which appear in this piece make me great fun, even though my hands are too small for it.
