We often hear only the piano-playing of eachother here at the site, but never our speaking voices. Please write a little blurb here, if you would be willing to submit a small voice sample to play a contest where we could all guess who eachother is by voice. It could be lots of fun, so don't be shy! Nicole in Canada
Nice idea, but how to hide the nickname? With the name you know already who speaks, or is there a trick to post anonymous?
Maybe PianoLady could collect the sound samples, if she is willing and has time? I don't want to volunteer her time without asking first, but if so, could PM her to get an e-mail address at which she could receive the samples. If she is busy though, I am also willing to collect and post samples, by receiving them in e-mails. Teaching has slowed down since piano exams are already this week, so I've got lots of time now. Whoever is collecting the samples cannot partake in the contest, other than to submit her own sample, because she would know the answers. But if there is a way we can post anonymously, directly to this thread, that would be great.
Got your message(s) Nicole. Yes, I'm willing to collect samples. I can't submit myself since everybody's already heard me. Plus, my kids are home now and sleep all morning so I can't practice until later in the day.
Ok, so everybody, who wants to submit their voice should send a PM to Pianolady. I suppose even those who don't submit a voice sample would be welcome to partake in contest, as far as the guessing part. N
What do you say we make a deadline of Friday night? Then I can stick them all up on Saturday when everybody's home...or not. Is that stupid? My email address is listed in my profile.
I'm so happy I don't have any recording equipment and thus cannot participate! But I'll have a guess, too, of course!
Then everybody must talk with this funny-sounding Arab Al-Qaida accent. That would it make more difficult...
Chaotica's chaotic and fun idea Ok, yes, that sounds like fun. DON'T use your normal voice, so those of us who have been speaking English since little (this means I could be in the contest again ) could talk with our best European/Chinese/Al-Quaida fake accents, and those with accents already, could try to use some other accent from a different country. I like this idea very much!
Maybe everyone can imitate Audrey Hepburn in 'My Fair Lady' and say: The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain I'm kidding.
Ok, well it's Sunday night, now. Nicole, I think we may have to give up on this game. Even though the site was down these past days, I think we had more people that wanted to guess, but didn't want to submit. Maybe we can try another game, another time.
