Does anybody here know how understandable George Crumb's music is to read? I mean I know he wrote music with plucking the piano strings and everything else... Do the scores explain what each marking means, or do you have to know how to read that type of stuff already? Also, when he wrote stuff for "amplified piano", is that supposed to mean like a keyboard? (ie could I play it on a real piano?)
The scores I have seen do explain what to do. I specifically performed the Makrokosmos 3 for two pianos and percussions and it was clearly written what to do
I have never played any of Crumbs works, but I´m wondering why so many people are afraid of notation marks, that they have never seen before. Usually publishers are very careful about explanations in every sence of the piece, so when you find a new symbol, there is always an explanation note somewhere.
Alright thanks... I've just never played anything with "weird" (for lack of better words ) notation so I wasn't sure if you'd be expected to know what it all means or not...
Hey can you email the scores of George Crumb's works to me please? =)) My email is pianist7137@hotmail.com Thanks!!
