I have always wondered how the copyright works on this site. I canont believe it is legal to download it.
It's Russian, so it's probably either an illegal site or a site that's legal in Russia but not outside Russia. Just like http://www.piano.ru/library-e.html . Anyway, it's a great site. I downloaded quite some stuff from it.
I found another Russian site with recordings of Sultanov, if you're interested.
Amazing! I like free MP3s!
wow what a playinf og sultanov!!!
Hey they're back! 8) These sites were off-line for several months, I believe they were having legal problems and were shut down. Perhaps they are legitimate now. Although the recording of Rachmaninov I just listened to is an RCA Victor recording, (all of his recordings are) don't know what the legal status of that is. It seems that all the copyright laws are in flux right now, largely owing to the internet and the rapid dissemination of materials that it enables. I don't think the combined FBI, GRU (or whatever it is now) and Interpol could stop the flow of illegal downloads. Not condoning this, just pointing out a probable fact.
Heh while they were offline I would play with the green keyboard icon, having saved it!
Thanks for posting this. He was perhaps the most extraordinary pianist of the 80's and 90's until his career was cut short by a stroke. He passed away last year.
But his recordings live on! 8)
