Franz Schubert, D911, Winterreise, Nr. 3: Gefrorene Tränen und Nr. 11: Frühlingstraum, performed by Michael Schönfelder (voice) and Andreas Pfaul (piano).
We continue our recordings of the "Winterreise", which we would like to complete some nice day.
My special remark for Didier and all, who are interested in recording technique, is the following:
I have put different settings for gain and panorama on my mixing console (a simple phonic am 220), and with these settings on the mixing console I put the signal directly into WaveLab. So, these recordings are not done with Reaper, which seems to be something like a virtual mixing console to me. I have not made any other mixtures of the piano- and the voice-track, but just let them like they are. For my feeling so we could produce a quite nice stereo impression. I´m very curious on your opinion, Didier, and also of the others, of course.

Sorry, in my first submission I had Gefrorene Tränen two times and the Frühlingstraum was missing. I have corrected that now.

In my opinion, your best sound up to now. However this voice would benefit from sounding closer.
Recording behind the mixing console prevents from testing other mixing settings and applying separate software effects (equalization, reverb,..) to the voice and piano tracks.

I also had the feeling it´s a better sound now. :D But I understand, what you want to say. I think, I will buy Reaper and experiment and try out more different mixing settings. It has more possibilities than my small mixing console, of course. So, my next recording I will make with Reaper again and try out different settings for reverb in piano and voice to get the voice more forefront. Thank you very much for your tipps. :D :D :D
