This is a live, unedited recording from a few years ago of Liszt's Orage (Storm), from Années de Pèlerinage, Volume 1 "Suisse." It's a cute little ditty... Liszt - Orage, from Années de Pèlerinage, Volume 1 "Suisse"
Bravo!!! I like this piece and this performance of yours very much! Thank you for sharing and I'm very happy to be able to listen to you at PS!
Was this professionally recorded? The sound convinces me that there must have been $10,000+ of recording equipment, not to mention a $90,000 piano. Or, you're pulling a Setrak on us  Regardless, this piece is well played. Your fiery octaves caught, and held, my attention. Reminds me of Jeno Jando. Thanks for sharing, -jg
This was recorded live at a performance at the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. on a Steinway D. You are probably right about the cost of the piano, but I have no idea about the recording equipment. By the way, what is a Setrak?
Very clearly and exactly played. I enjoyed it very much. Great technique and expression. Thank you very much for sharing this high quality record!
Setrak Setrakian, was a "person" who submitted tens of recordings of superior quality, clarity, and technique. He claimed it as his own hard work. He said he was from Lebanon, etc. etc. He submitted Rachmaninov's Cello Sonata with a story that the celloist, at the end of the performance, collapsed and died in his arms. Bullshit aside, turns out that most (if not all) of the submissions were not his. He was a fake; took credit for other pianist's work. Hope you don't do the same
Thank you hyenal, musicusblau and juufa72 for your comments. Juufa72, I don't know if I should feel honored or insulted by your suggestion that I am submitting recordings of performances by other pianists. I guess I understand that it is possible to submit anything on here without anyone knowing who the performer really is, so I assure you, no offense is taken. Besides, there is someone else on this site who can vouch for me, and I'm not telling who it is... 8)
You should feel honored. Setrak was a fake. You are not. I'll put up your recordings tomorrow. (very sleepy, now)
stormy indeed!!! little or no restraint here! unfortunatly, I don't have much stalk-y to say here .. oh wait, here's something: What??!! Let me at 'em, *whipping out knife* You may be getting the idea now that I'm a jealous stalker, and that's simply not the case ... I just don't like having to compete for attention.
juufa72, coud you tell the story how PS discovered he was a fake? (It seems a quite difficult work.) In fact I had a nightmare where a fake pianist makes fun of me yesterday... :?
Hye-Jin, here is the whole sordid story: http://server3.pianosociety.com/new/php ... php?t=1254 However, I think we should keep the Setrak discussion out of this topic.
I see, Monica. Excuse me for my curiosity Really I woke up at 3:00 am today from the nightmare, so I could not help asking... (Sorry Alexander, surely I can appreciate that you are a highly regarded artist  )
Wow, that Setrak sure was something! How interesting! Juufa72, I haven't heard Jeno Jando's recording of this. Is it good? I've only heard Lazar Berman's and Jerome Rose's recordings of this. I think both of theirs is far superior to my rendition. They each play it much wilder than I. In public performance, I tend to be more careful and reserved, much to the detriment of the performance, at times, in my opinion. It's something I'd like to work on in my playing. Glad you all liked it, though, and thank you!
