Yeah, I saw that when I was working on the piece for an audition. Strange to hear Debussy played with so little pedal.
I really liked that charming video. I sometimes get Classic Arts Showcase on a certain TV channel. Only sporadically, though, but it's neat. One time I saw a man 'singing' a Chopin piece - can't remember which one, but it was a piano piece, not a song.
Hmm, I too would cautiously use the pedal in Dr. Gradus. One has to render properly the fingerwork as the parody it actually is. Want more pedal? Listen to this one (shirtless ;-)): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STuwNBiBVAs Anyway, I posted that one because of the choreography. I love it. why not, if an individual can pull off this piece practically without using the pedal at all, this shows the skill required to play the piece. My teacher made me learn this without the pedal at all and only added in just a bit at the end as she said that I can play it just as well without the pedal.
