    This is Kaila Rochelle. I would like to present a recording
    of the Chopin Polonaise-Phantasie in A-flat major, Op.61.
    I played this in a very small apartment for a salon concert.

    That is a very creditable performance. It has a lot of rhythmic vitality whilst retaining a poetic tinge, and considering this is a lengthy and demanding work, there are very few signs of stress.

    Thank you Andrew for your kind words. If I were able to play this piece now, I would be more
    aware of the poetic possibilities after listening to Vladimir's playing of this piece. There might
    be a few more nuances and effort to tie some of the melodic fragments together. I am happy
    you feel it is a credible performance and hope to have it posted.

    Hi Kaila,

    In your performance I heard plenty of wonderful musical ideas that were carried out not only with great precision, but with thoughts & passion!
    I liked very much your choice of tempo, for example the very beginning, which immediately set a proper tone for entire piece. Your playing is full of contrasts, wide gamut of dynamic changes, many subtle nuances and great pedaling! I noticed that slower sections you tend to play rather little faster, always animato, while on some fast passages you keep slower tempi & hold yourself from speeding up.
    It seems to me that in B major section, when "polyphonic" section starts evolving the use of left pedal creats a good effect, but sometime pp in left hand was too quiet, the sound almost disappeared, however it might have been the recording limitation...
    After listening to your interpretation I feel that I have many fresh ideas to think about :)

    This is a beautiful interpretation ! I am far for being a great connoisseur of Chopin, but I found the very genuine tone of this composer, and the pianism seems very accurate. I have uploaded the piece in the Chopin's Polonaises page. As you may have understood, we administrators do not deal anymore with the pages of the artists. So it is up to you to mention on your page your recording of this piece, and to put a suitable link to the Polonaise page.
