"Languido e rubato" is the prescription to perform this lovely Nocturne by Frédéric Chopin.
I had to look in my music-dictionary for "languido" and it means "languishing" respective "feeble". Indeed, this is a sad piece, and full of yearning. The "religioso"-part in the second half has something searching and yearning, it´s a return to God. It has four voices like a choral, but it´s in romantic style. I love this piece, because it´s very deep.
With this recording I do complete the set of the three Nocturnes op. 15, btw.

You can watch me playing this piece by heart on youtube, if you like:

The mp3-file below is the sound-track of the video.

Notice, please, that I take a little rhythmic liberty in bar two and similar places. I count it to "rubato" and I want to play it a bit sighing for some change.
The d-flat in bar 88 is very silent, but audible, if you put the volume to a normal degree (on my amplifier between 30 and 40 units of volume).

I´m very interested in your comments!

That was beautiful, Andreas. Really - very nice. I have put it up on the site.

I'm not totally crazy about how you changed the rhythm on those places, but it is probably because I am not used to it.

p.s. has cold weather returned to Germany?
