Hello, I would love to share with you my recording of Chopin's Ballade No 4 Thanks for listening, Vladimir
Hi Vladimir, Your performance is beautiful. The presentation of the main motif is quite hypnotizing. The flow is elegant and the melodies throughout are lyrical and soulful. Technically the performance is flawless with the technique used to convey musical ideas rather than to be flaunting. Congratulations on a beautiful performance. Kaila I'm reposting my comment - for reasons unknown, my initial post appeared as a comment posted by new member Dario Dalla Mura. The same technical glitch occurred when I posted to the Debussy, Claire De Lune submitted by fluterificOO.
Hi Kaila, Many thanks for your comments. I love this Ballade very much, and hopefully my infatuation with this great pice of music comes through my playing. I also believe that bravura by itself should never be a goal.... By the way, just remembered what Busoni once said : someone who wants to be above just being a virtuoso, must first to become one... smart expression, isn't it? Kind regards, Vladimir
Hello Vladimir, Quite a beautiful rendition of this great oeuvre of the repertoire ! Your playing is very neat and close to the score (that I have followed while listening). It is the kind of Chopin I like: no excess of tears, but rather grandeur and contained emotion. Of course, such a pianist and a piece would deserve a better piano, but you prove that an average upright may be the vehicle of a great musical realization ! I might suggest, for your next recording, that you use a slightly better set of microphones, since the ones you use kind of compress the music - erasing a good part of the dynamics - and also put too much emphasis to the low part of the tessiture, making the soprano singing sometimes almost inaudible. But I have only compliments for the pianist ! I am putting the recording up.
Hello Francois, Thanks for your positive feedback and advice! Now I am playing on a different, newer and I think a better piano. Regarding the microphones, they are "built in" a part of a digital recorder, however I agree, there is an inevitable trade-off between hiss & noise reduction and some loss of a sound quality: dynamics, overtones etc. The sound becomes sometime just too flat. But I'll try to find a solution, at least partial one. Best regards, Happy Holiday season & Wonderful & Happy New Year! Vladimir
