Hello everyone, I haven't uploaded anything for a long time, and I apologize for that. Spring has ben quite a hectic and chaotic time for me. But now I have some free time again, so here is something I just recorded recently with some friends. It's Brahms Piano quartet Op.60, in C minor, a wonderful piece that I've wanted to play for the longest time. And finally did it! So here it is, and I hope you enjoy it. All the best to everyone, Hector Sanchez Brahms - Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60, No. 3 - I: Allegro no troppo Brahms - Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60, No. 3 - II: Scherzo, Allegro Brahms - Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60, No. 3 - III: Andante Brahms - Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60, No. 3 - IV: Finale, Allegro comodo
Hello, Hector. It certain has been a long time! I have put this up on the site. And it is very, very good. You and the other musicians sounded perfect to me. I so much love that 3rd movement! Would you like me to add the names of the other players? Also, please check all links.
Excellent Thanks. This is a really good recording, and I've saved the entire set to my hard disk. I do hope you post the names of the other musicians. Ditto PianoLady's remark on the 3rd movement. That is truly the gem and your group was exquisite in that movement. Please post more!
I have only sampled some of this so far, but it is obviously a very high-quality performance. I would guess your friends are all professional musicians, or at least graduate conservatory students ? I would be interested to know how long it takes to practice a work like this together (not counting the hard work necessary to master Brahms' demanding piano part in the first place). It obviously helps if each knows their part perfectly before the quartet even gets together, but even then, does it take long to get one one line ?
Hello everyone, Well, I'm glad you're liking it The story of this recording is, about a little less than a year ago I had to go play this piece in a concert in the US. I played with professional musicians, like me, who also happened to be friends/acquaintances. We all had the parts from before, I spent about 3 weeks working on it on my own, then I flew to the States, we had about a week to put it together, and we played it. It went so well, that the next day we asked another friend of ours, who works at a recording studio, and owns a lot of equipment himself, if it would be possible to get together at his place and record it. We were lucky because he happened to be free those days, and willing to do it, so we did. A few months later, he sent us the CD with the piece. There are no cuts, each movement was recorded in one go, but he did fuzz around a bit with the resonance/mike balance... So, we were quite happy with the result. The people playing with me are: Joanna Maurer, violin Masumi Rostad, viola Tim Park, cello I hope I answered all the questions! All the best to everyone. Hector
