    I recorded this Brahms Intermezzo a few years back, but I think it is of decent quality. Please have a listen and leave some feedback!

    We have ten versions of this already on the site, so any new submission of it needs to be very good quality. And I'm sorry, but this will not make it onto the site. Since you want some feedback, I'll get a little nitpicky now.

    - Bar 8 - no dynamic contrast
    - slips and hesitations in bars 22-23
    - bar 30 top note hardly heard - no expression in the next three bars
    - bars 38-47 - too much pedal and didn't hear any poco animato
    - bars 49-56 - you played both times nearly the same. IMO, one needs to play the repeat differently to make it more interesting. Like play it much softer than the first time. Also bring out those LH melody notes much more.
    - the piu lento section should be much softer
    - bars 74-76 - didn't hear any rit. and there needs to be more of a pause on the hold at bar 76.
    - the last page has the same issues like too much pedaling, rushing in places, slips, etc.

    Overall, I'm afraid you played this too prosaic. We need more gentleness in the soft places and more boldness and drama in the meatier places. You've got the notes down, now spend more time with the piece to get the 'music' out of it.

    While this is not in any sense a terrible recording, there's much that should be improved. And as this is such an immensely popular piece here, any new recording needs to be pretty good. I did not listen with score, but I know this piece well and heard a fair number of read errors, wrong pedaling, and tempo issues. This piece may not be so technically hard, but one should never underestimate the subtleties of Brahms, and a piece like this is difficult to bring off convincingly. You have the potential but you need to work more on this, and listen to your recordings very critically. Also listen so some great pianists playing this work (but you've probably done that already ?).

    I would hesitate to say that this cannot go up on the site... but then I'd also hesitate to allow it. So I'm glad Monica has already made the decision.... The admins need to be unanimous on whether something goes up or not.

    I hope you can redo this one, taking in account the point raised. I'm sure it will be much better then.
