How do you guys play this descending right hand notes during the first two bars of chopins op. 10 number 5? Do you play with flat fingers or with curved fingers? Or perhaps you mix it up?
Not sure how I do it - but I do definitely mix it up. Or mess it up, more likely  There must be plenty videos on YouTube where you can watch the great in action, I suppose ?
Well, I'm without looking sure that Mr Horowitz plays it with flat fingers. Wow, I've found a Rubinstein-10-5-video, beside he plays this at a killerspeed I can only recognize that he has pranks like a bear 8) . http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=y1qch7SwFiM
I can play the piece with both flat fingers and curved fingers. I usually play it with slightly curved fingers ( not entirely flat, but not really curved either ).

Playing with flat fingers are ALLOWED especially on black keys where the width is narrower as compared to black key. Its just some bought up with playing with curved finger(ideal situation) only. As matter of facts, sometimes its a very good idea to play with complet flat and straight fingers to stimulate other part of finger muscles...
