    Hi!

Due to the recent problems with a hacker, we have been forced to perform a major upgrade of the forum. By time, we will rearrange it so that you will recognize the "old style" and consider this a quick fix to make sure that we eliminate further hacker attempts.

Despite the big change in appearance, things seem to work as before (not checked everything at time of writing this post).

    Thanks for your patince!

I had put in a post in the 'How should I start restudying Bach thread' (Repertoire forum) as the interface changed, and it disappeared. So I posted it again on the new interface, and it worked, but now, when I go to post a reply, there are no 'submit' or 'preview' buttons. I PM'd Chris about it (probably because I was trying to argue with him ), but this is probably a better place for that bit of info. Of course, the buttons are all fine here, or I couldn't post.

There should be 'Preview' and 'Submit' buttons right below the text area. This was an enhancement I made in the previous version of the forum, to avoid you having to scroll down to see the buttons. So after upgrading the software, initially these two extra buttons were gone, but I added them again yesterday evening, and made some other cosmetic changes to the posting screen.

But be warned - if someone tries to argue with me, I'll take away their Submit buttons

Oh, please! Everybody argues with you.

My PM box is full and I'm tired of deleting them - I need to copy them out later because I am OCD about keeping them. Anyway, I use Firefox, and of course I am logged in!

Also, I don't have an edit button on this forum, and though BBcode is turned on in my profile, it appears codes don't work either.

I hate forum changes. They always get sorted out eventually, but it's always a temporary disaster. I'm not complaining because it was apparently necessary, but I might go into hiding for a little while while you guys get it figured out, since I can't argue with you. :(

That sounds likle it could be a permission problem. Monica also complained not being able to post. Maybe the new PhpBB has different rules. I'll check that out when I have some time.

Yes forum changes (hell, any changes...) are a PITA. I'm very glad we are now on a recent version of PhpBB though, we were many years behind and missing out on lots because of that. Robert took swift action on this, as usual he is the constructor and I will be the finetuner and troubleshooter.

Attached is how the posting screen should look. Anyone seeing something else, please send me a full screenshot, and details on your browser.

Ha ! Fixed that, I think. A silly typo of me which did not perturb Internet Explorer but upset poor Mozilla.
I think all is fine now.

Thanks Chris. Next time, try to perturb IE instead.

The new look is a big improvement IMHO. I may be a young guy, but even I had trouble reading the old forum sometimes.

Yes I like the new look much better too, as well as the administrative interface and general quality. I'm glad we did it even though it causes some glitches here and there. For example I need to update some of my scripts because the database layout has changed :x

Where have I been? It's looking good! Too bad I can't contribute and I miss my dinky keyboard. That's a price I get for living abroad.

I have a question, and I couldn't think of a good place to put it, so I'll ask here. I recognize Bach, Chopin, and...Rachmaninoff, right? But who is the guy on the far right, in the forum banner?

Hey! Been a while since I've been around, but I was wondering if you guys were considering updating the boards to phpBB 3? I have it now at a forum I run, and I'm extremely impressed with the features. :)

Haha, actually this board is on PhpBB 3, in fact version 3.0.6. We should really upgrade to 3.0.7-PL1, but we're a bit of a lazy bunch :D

Yeah, I realized just the other day that you can use the subsilver theme on phpBB 3.
