Perfectly executed with excellent technique, wonderful sound and musical understanding! I would love to her the complete set from you but understand the extreme undertaking and work it would be.

They are all up on the site and I did replace your previous 5th variation with this recording but cannot say that I noticed much difference (but from one second in total length). Both were perfect in my ears :).

Well, I should have used the Hannibal quote here. But, no sense of beating a dead horse.

I renamed the files on the server (apparently the Goldbergs had been promoted to BWV 998 overnight  ) so the above links now work.

Total perfection as always from you Roberto ! There is nothing that could possibily be bettered here. Especially the trills are a marvel in itself (I think I said that once before, about one of your Mazurkas).

I listened to Perahia's version some time ago but found it rather tiring in its relentless virtuosity. I think I'd rather listen to your version if you would one day complete it. Are you planning to ?

I think these variations are wrongly numbered:

    Var. 4 is Var. 10
    Var. 5 is Var. 7
    Var. 6 is Var. 5

Moreover, I'm afraid you substituted the old Var.5 which was (if I remember well) Var.26, so actually eliminating it. :?

Oooh, that is bad. I did not check the numbers, just corrected Robert's naming mistake on the server (bwv 998 instead of 988) and that indeed included overwriting the previous version of nr 5 which apparently was not no.5 either..... I guess we need to spend a little more time on research before slapping things onto the server. I hope that old one is still around somewhere, otherwise we'll need Roberto to resend it.

Gah! Your right Alf and I made a mistake. The backup is of no use today as it did overwrote the old recording when it was running tonight...I have a secondary backup server. It is possible it is still there!

Mistakes happen! For instance, I've just accidentaly closed the browser and now I have to write the message all again. :?

Now and then, traversing the main site, I occasionally find errors (eg: Bertoglio's Schönberg Opus 19 is all the six pieces, not just the first one). But don't get me wrong, I understand that managing the site is a time-consuming activity, so I try not to be a pain in the neck (not too often, at least!).

And you are an IT guy :p

Whenever you find something like that, please report it, however minor. These things need to be fixed, and we value every bit of feedback.

Yeah, you wonder who designs these keyboards with all the keys so close together. Same for pianos... keys should be further apart to reduce the risk of accidentally hitting the wrong one.

Probably... We'll have to implement a call logging system and a Service Level Agreement so that we can prioritize our work on the site. So when you report something, I can ask what the impact is, and either give you a workaround or schedule a fix for the next maintenance release. Resources permitting

Nope, my observations are from personal experience.
But I do relish the Dilbert strips whenever I read one. I guess especially IT guys love them.

Now, I'll have to chastize you for straying OT :D

Reminds me of a friend who, after installing a patch on a Solaris server located on a lighthouse, was about to reboot it and slipped a bit. Happened to type init 5 instead of init 6....and for you who are familiar with Solaris know that it will, instead of reboot, shutdown and power off. And this was the main weather report server of that area. But the helicopter trip was nice he said :).

And no...the old recording is gone.
